The coastal city of Nha Trang

The southern central coastal region comprises four provinces: Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan. The area totals 21,432sq.km.
This region is scheduled to become a general economic area, where sea-related economic sectors, sea and ecological tourism will be the priority of development.
According to the planning, the population of this region will rise from the current number of 3.7 million to 4.8 million by 2025. By 2025, around 31,000ha of land in this region will be devoted to urban development.
The southern central coastal region is divided into three sub-regions: the 1A National Highway corridor and the coastal area; the delta area; the half-mountain and half-plain area and the mountainous area.
The key economic area and the urban zone will run along the 1A National Highway corridor and the coastal area, including Nha Trang city, Phan Thiet and its adjacent area, and the Van Phong Bay area.
Under the planning, the inner-road system will be completed, Vung Ro Port will be upgraded, while some new ports like Dam Mon, Hon My Giang will be built, and Cam Ranh Airport will be upgraded into an international airport.
A railway from Phu Hiep (Tuy Hoa) to Buon Ma Thuot will be built to transport cargo to the Central Highlands, northwestern region of Cambodia, Thailand and southern Laos.
The region will have heliports on Phu Quy Island and in the Van Phong Economic Zone. This economic zone will also have an international container transit port, hi-tech project, an intelligent city and coastal tourist sites.
